Working Principle
Hammer Mill is a heavy-duty equipment in the impact hammer mill category of grinding mills. The material is broken into smaller particles by impact against swinging blades, and also a crushing action caused by impact against the liner Blade. Material exits the grinding chamber through the perforated sieve located in the bottom of the chamber. The residence time in the grinding chamber and in-turn the fineness of the material can be controlled by changing the sieve sizes. Hammer Mills’ output is comparatively coarser compared to other grinding mills.
Application
Hammer Mills are best suited for application which require a coarse particle size reduction. The fineness can be adjusted by adjusting the sieve size like in a traditional Micro Pulverizer. The Input feed sizes can be large lumps (Around 300- 400 mm) and therefore, Hammer Mills are also used for first stage of size reduction with the output being further processed with fine grinding mills like Micro Pulverizer or Bar turbo Mills. Most common sieves sizes used are 3mm, 5mm and 8 mm.
